We cannot prove history with absolute certainty

I mean that we cannot prove history with absolute certainty. In a normal math theorem for example, we can decisively prove something, right?

Right.

Well, I don’t see that level of certainty even possible in the area of history.

Ah, I see what you mean.

Do you find value in science?

I sure do. I really enjoy science.

What about those areas of science where the degree of certainty is not 100%? Like medicine for example… would you use a treatment (if you needed it) for a procedure that had less than 100% certainty?

I suppose I would… it seems like a lot of medicine, and perhaps science in general does not deal in 100% certainty.

But it’s also repeatable. We can conduct experiments to more effectively prove something. We can’t do that with history since we can’t repeat a past event exactly. There are just so many variables.

Cool. Makes sense. Mind if I ask you about that reasonable and repeatable certainty we have in science?
